Special Olympics International has announced that North Kingstown High School, a school with Special Olympics Unified Champion School® programming, is receiving national banner recognition for its efforts to provide inclusive sports and activities for students with and without intellectual disabilities. North Kingstown High School is receiving this distinguished status as a result of meeting 10 national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy, and respect. A national panel of leaders from Special Olympics and the education community developed these standards. The primary activities within these standards include sports, leadership, and whole school engagement opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities. The result is a school environment that promotes inclusion and respect for all, providing students with and without disabilities the opportunity to build positive relationships and foster a socially inclusive school climate. National banner schools should also demonstrate they are self-sustainable or have a plan in place to sustain these activities into the future.

We are incredibly proud that North Kingstown High School has been recognized as a National Unified Champion School. This honor reflects the dedication of our students, staff, and families in creating an inclusive environment where every student is valued, respected, and given opportunities to succeed—both on and off the field. “This recognition from Special Olympics International speaks to the heart of what makes North Kingstown so special—our unwavering commitment to inclusion, compassion, and community,” stated Dr. Duva, Superintendent of North Kingstown School Department. “Our students lead by example, showing what it truly means to celebrate differences and build a school culture of respect and belonging.” This national banner recognition aligns perfectly with our district’s vision to ensure that all students grow academically, socially, and emotionally in an environment that embraces diversity and respect. North Kingstown High School’s commitment to inclusion is a model for what education should be—a place where every student feels they belong. This is an honor for the North Kingstown School District and a celebration will be planned in the near future where a National Unified Champion School banner will be presented to the North Kingstown High School community.

Two competitive teams and communities came together yesterday for a great cause. The NK girls volleyball team hosted East Providence last night for a Spike Out event to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Both teams and communities played a key role in making this event happen. All proceeds at the gate were donated to the American Cancer Society.

Thank you NK and EP girls volleyball teams for making excellent examples of what sports can do when you work together.

NK Girls Volleybal Spike Out Event
Check this out! Go NK sailing!

This Video covers the wrap up of the 2025 Le Solitaire Figago. A 3 leg stage race around the west coast of France. Each leg is about 600-700 miles.
This breed is a single handed in one design Figaro 3's!!
Jamestown local and NK grad Erica Lush completed all three legs of this event making her the FIRST American woman to complete this world class one designing regatta.
In the process she beat the guy who won last year, Tom Dolan
And one of the Uk's most accomplished new young woman single handed sailors, Ellie driver.
The video is about the race.

BUT when you consider that the guy who won it was competing in his 20th.
Figaro, IT is really a story of never giving up,
Never lose sight of your dreams.
This guy has been working on winning this event for a long time!

I think it is about a 20 minute video.
I STRONGLY URGE all of you to watch this. So block out so me time and watch it.
IF you are taking French, all the better.
